Toddler Program

12 months (and walking) to 3 years

Forming a sense of identity and building skills for independence is essential for toddlers. Our safe, open, and loving toddler environment is built for your blossoming little human. By conscientiously forming a relationship of trust with your child, our teachers serve as the perfect scaffolding to your child’s development.

MOVEMENT

Through independent movement and classroom care activities, your child will build core strength and coordination. Through fine motor activities, your child will develop hand-eye coordination and prepare their muscles for writing. We engage in singing, dancing, dress up, and building activities to develop movement and coordination skills.

LANGUAGE

We are consciously building your child’s mastery of the English language in our classrooms. The adults speak clearly and directly with the children, avoiding baby talk and using proper names for objects and actions. The adults observe your child’s physical cues and listen intently to understand their developing language skills to know how to respond and meet their needs. We narrate what is happening in the classroom, using rich, descriptive language to help your child build a strong vocabulary.

INDEPENDENCE

Our team is dedicated to helping your child build independence in the areas of eating, sleeping, and toileting. We model and encourage the use of utensils during meals and we engage in food preparation activities. We support the children in falling asleep independently on their nap mats, without the use of pacifiers. Finally, our toddler classroom is equipped with a mini toilet to support your child in gaining confidence and comfort with bathroom routines. Children are taught how to dress and undress as part of our toilet learning curriculum.
